New Mills v Padiham
New partnership for the Millers

Wed 18th January 2017 | New Mills
By Ian Templeman

New Mills have announced a new partnership with The Football College.

Based at Bury FC, The Football College is an organisation that offers academic qualifications alongside player pathways from Grassroots to the Professional Football League.

The partnership with the Millers will see The Football College run their Elite Youth Squad out of New Mills, playing their home games at the New Mills first team ground, Church Lane.

In addition to this, players from The Football College Elite Youth Squad will have the opportunity to progress directly into Hallmark Security League Premier Division football, should they achieve the required standard.

All coaching and management of the Elite Squad will be conducted by the Football College staff. The partnership will commence beginning of 2017/18 season.

The Football College’s Head of Football, Paul Iannaccone commented:

''This is a significant step for the future of The Football College and our players. Creating a partnership with a fantastic club at the North West Counties level will hopefully see many of our talented players get the opportunity to progress up to this standard of football.’’

The New Mills Chairman Ray Coverley said:

''As Chairman of New Mills AFC, myself and the Committee are thrilled that this exciting partnership will be in place for the start of next season.

“The players that this partnership will bring to the club will give the first team Manager options to select from, and the opportunity for New Mills Juniors players to join the squad.

“The club are exploring the opportunity of building a new facility at Ollersett fields, and New Mills and in the long term Bury would look at running courses from this site giving local players, both male and female the chance to further their education locally in all areas of sports.''
