Premier Division Leading Goalscorer 2017/18

Carl Grimshaw is the Premier Division Leading Goalscorer for 2017/18 after a stunning debut season in the division with his Charnock Richard side.
The striker, who made it a double after picking up the First Division award last season, joined Charnock Richard from Eagley ahead of the 2009/10 season, and has scored 386 goals for the club in nine seasons. That is even more remarkable when you consider that he has made just 335 starts in all competitions for Charnock in that time.
This season Carl made 43 appearances in the Hallmark Security League, and scored 44 goals in those games. In the interests of fairness to all players, the leading goalscorer award is based on league goals only. It did not matter who the opposition was, Carl usually scored. Of the 22 other teams in the league, Carl found the net against 20 of them, only failing to score against City of Liverpool and Irlam.
However when you take goals in all competitions into account, Carl scored 51 goals this season in 52 games, firing his side to the Semi Finals of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy for the first time in their history. Even more incredible is that of those 52 games, Carl found the net in 36 of those games!
Carl was particularly prolific this season between the start of November and middle of February. In 19 games Carl played in that period, he found the net in 18 of those games, scoring 24 goals in that time. In fact the only surprise in Carl's record is that he scored three or more in a game just once this season, that coming at Winsford United in March.
Carl is pictured receiving his Player of the Month award for December by Stewart Taylor, an award he won twice this season
